Bangalore University to start BBM, BCA, MCA, MBA Distance Education in 2009-10
The Academic Council of Bangalore University has sanctioned the introduction of new courses through distance education mode for 2009-10. Courses will be started in BBM, BCA, MCA, and MBA through this mode.Dr Prabhu Deva, the Vice-Chancellor has proposed the introduction of a 4 year B.Sc programme instead of the 3year programme, that had been recommended by the three national academies of Science. Under the proposed scheme, students in the first year will get a grounding in the core science streams before specializing and choosing their electives.
There is also a proposal for the introduction of a dual M.Sc and Ph.D course, with the option of withdrawing one year after enrolment with an M.Sc degree.
Other decisions of the Bangalore University Academic Council are:
- Re-introduction of M.Phil courses deferred until UGC position is clarified
- Approved PG diploma in Tourism, Sanskrit and Urdu courses
- Approved one-yr certificate course in Russian, Finnish, Korean and Chinese languages
- Approved M.A in Music (Mridangam) by Department of Performing Arts
- Approved restructuring of papers for B.Com vocational course
