Actually it is KRLMPCA - Karnataka Religious & Linguistic Minority Professional Colleges Association. But, in short it is known as KMCA - Karnataka Minority Colleges Association.
As COMEDK - is the umbrella association for all the Un-aided Medical, Dental and Engineering colleges in Karnataka, KRLMPCA - is the umbrella association for all religious and linguistic minority Medical, Dental and Engineering colleges of Karnataka.
Entrance Tests:
This association conducts Under Graduate and Post Graduate Entrance Test every year to fill
its share of seats. Member institutions of KRLMPCA have more share of seats than that of
COMEDK institutions.
KMCA entrance test, publication of test score and rank list will be followed by a centralised counselling. Theses processes are modeled on COMEDK CET. After AICTE, MCI and DCI approve the intake (number of seats) for various colleges every year, the COMEDK, the KMCA and the Government share the seats. This is called as the government - private seat sharing ratio. After this seat sharing, KMCA fills its share of seats by its UGET or PGET as the case may be.
Why are these called as Minority Colleges? With the Constitutional Provision, many educational institutions have been set up in India to help certain sections of the society which belong either Minority Religions like Islam or Linguistic Minority community like Tulu. In these institutions there will be reservations for the candidates belonging to the respective minority quota.
